More Video To Help Get You To Friday

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Amelia was just being so freakin’ cute last night I had to try and take video.  So here is a collection of video… she tries to sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, she brings me lots of things from the cabinet and speaks in a foreign language (at least I can’t understand her), she dances in squeaky shoes and shivers when she says cold.  Its not the best quality video but its cute. :)

Enjoy,

19 Months Old

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

Dear Amelia,

Today you are 19 months old.  It seems like just yesterday I was writing your 18 month post – time really is flying by these days.

You were 26 lbs 15 oz at the doctor, and 31 1/2 inches long.  So you are consistently still around 75th percentile on weight (obviously still a good eater), but you did jump up a bit in height from 25th to 35th.  We thought so, because you definitely seem to be taller these days.

You are doing really well and hitting all your milestones.  The doctor was impressed when you said ‘doctor’ for her.  You do like to show off, particularly if you can get people laughing. I think you did your ‘brrr, cold’ shiver for the grandparents five or six times since they kept laughing for you (it is really cute).

The 13th tooth is slowly but surely coming in – I keep saying this is the day the canine will break through but somehow it hasn’t yet.  I think 13 and 14 will be close together, hopefully with the next two as well.  We’d love a big break from teething for awhile as I’m sure you would too.

You got to go to the circus for the first time, and you were enthralled, dancing to the music while sitting in daddy’s lap.  The pre-show was a bit overwhelming, you weren’t sure of those clowns up close.  But you definitely enjoyed the show itself, so next year we will definitely go again.

You also got to see the ocean for the 1st time – its a shame it was cold because you loved laughing at the waves coming in and out.  You were even brave and let daddy walk you in but it was cold and that didn’t last long.  Next time we go, hopefully it’ll be nice and warm for you to play.

You still love to dance.  You love to hear and see airplanes and trains.  You really love the moon and the stars.   Every night for the last week we had to read ‘Good Night Moon’.  Its the first time you have shown such a preference for one book before bed.

Probably my favorite thing is how loving you are – I’ve mentioned it before, but this month you have bloomed even more, wanting to hug everyone and you give us the sweetest cuddles and tell us ‘I L’ You’ – which just melts my heart everytime.  Its so rewarding to hear that without us having to say it first.

At school they tell us how good you are with the baby dolls which is a good thing since you’ll have a real baby around soon – in about 6 months you’ll be a big sister and you can’t put that baby back into the toy chest.

You still love your pacis, but you understand they are for the bedroom only.  Just tonight we had started going down the stairs and I had forgotten to make you leave it, but two stairs down you pointed back up and to the paci in your mouth and I asked if you wanted to put it in your crib – and you ran right to the crib and put it back.  Such a big girl!  Hopefully that means you’ll be ready for the transition to no pacis soon.  Not sure when we’ll be brave enough to go cold turkey but I hear that’s really the only way.  I apologize now!

There are so many fun and cute stories I could write about – however, I’ve decided just to end the post with a video of some cute moments from the month.  Of Dancing, Of Learning… Its about 2 minutes long, but I hope it shows a glimpse into our wonderful last month.

Amelia Takes On Being A Big Sister

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

So you may have noticed the blog posts haven’t been quite as regular – well, I have a good reason, really I do.  Amelia is going to be a big sister!   The new addition is due 9/2 and Amelia’s World will definitely be changing – I’m sure she’ll be a great big sister.   We’re very excited and will try to be better about updating the blog.

A Weekend At The Beach

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend.  Not only was it Valentine’s on Saturday, but it was President’s Day on Monday – we decided to use the 3-day weekend to take a trip to the beach with Amelia’s friend Graham (and his parents).  We headed down Friday night and it rained.  We woke up Saturday and it rained some more.  Luckily on Saturday afternoon it finally cleared and we got to spend a little time outdoors, introducing Amelia to the ocean for the first time.

Hanging out in a chair at the little park.

Mesmerized by sand on her hands.

She loved the ocean – she laughed and smiles as she watched it come in and out.

Though it was too cold to be in – she wasn’t a fan of wading.

Mom and Amelia enjoying the ocean.

Graham enjoyed it too but didn’t sit still long for photos.

Somehow I don’t really have many photos of Graham’s parents – but here is his dad.  He was making the kids laugh by having the ocean chase him in and out.

On Monday morning we got to go back to the park area – Amelia is trying to figure out how to appear unattended to get espresso & a puppy.

The contrast of Monday morning (left & blue) to Saturday (gray gray gray).  Same location.  Very different weather.   Unfortunately even though it was blue & sunny on Monday it was cold so we didn’t stay out long.

And finally a parting shot – you can tell they are thinking ‘why are you putting us in this chair, we’d rather be playing’.

Hope you enjoyed this peak at our weekend,

Kelly

A Date at the Park

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

It was so nice to have good weather after a few really cold weeks – so we decided to head to a nearby playground to let Graham and Amelia run off some energy.  Amelia loves slides and has no fear – often choosing to go head first if we don’t stop her.

Peaking through at daddy – this was a great little toddler set, Amelia could get up the stairs and there were 3 slide options, plus a wheel to drive the ‘train’.  The wheel was also a big hit for Amelia.

Graham hung out, literally, on the bar for awhile.  Amelia didn’t feel up to trying it.

It also had a good platform to watch the ducks in the lake – nicely spaced bars to keep the toddlers from wanting to swim (we had tried to go down by the water, but they just wanted to go in!).  Amelia loves to give Miss Heather big ol’ hugs.

They were so cute hanging out together watching the ducks (and doing lots of playing chase – this was a break from that).

They were also very loving with each other.  Granted, there was prompting from the parents (can you hug your friend?) – but it was too cute.

Hmmm, we may have to let them stop seeing each other.  She isn’t old enough to kiss! (Okay there might have been prompting here too – but I guess that’ll have to stop once she actually knows what boys are).

The toddler playset apparently wasn’t quite thrilling enough so they had to hit the big kid one too (for 5+) – here they are on their last double-slide ride.

It was a really fun day at the park – its so cute to see them grow up together.

Love,

Baby Momma

PS Oh another fun fact to go along with the last post – Amelia will say she’s ‘cold’ – and she makes herself visibly shiver.  It is hysterical.  I don’t even know if she is really cold when she does it, though she has  learned to ask for a jacket if she is cold.

February’s Fun Things

Monday, February 9th, 2009

Here are a few fun things about Amelia for February.  Hopefully pics and video will be uploaded and added tonight.

- Amelia loves the moon & stars right now.  They had a week about space exploration and they are two of her favorite words right now.

- She is back to eating like a champ (I think she is in the 27 lb range now).  She loves asparagus and pretty much any veggie we put in front of her.  Other than salad, salad does not go over well – I imagine that’s a weird texture for them.

- She is pretty good at running and it is so cute, especially when she is chasing after her friends.  Her legs are still shorter than her friends even though she is getting taller, so they seem to have to work a bit harder.

- She is trying to learn how to jump.  Usually its one foot up, then down, the other foot up then down in fast progression.  I don’t think it’ll be too long before she gets them together – she’s working really hard on it.

- She is very loving, and is giving great hugs right now.  And she will give kisses when asked, even to her friend Graham (funny picture to come later)

- Her language is definitely progressing, with her adding words like dirty, door and a whole bunch more.  I thought I was behind on keeping track last month but now its impossible.  She constantly amazes me by knowing words and she is also very good at parroting.

- We are working on colors right now – her initial guess on all of them is ‘purple’, but if we ask her which one is yellow, she gets it right and says the word.  So I think she does know them….

- At school they are working on counting.  If you say ‘one’, she says ‘two’.  If you say ‘uno’ she yells ‘uno!’.  She also likes to say ‘adios’ which I find so freakin’ adorable.

Just a few fun things for you to enjoy.
