Finally – Some Video For A Friday

Friday, August 15th, 2008

What better day to finally get some video clips up than a Friday when no one really wants to be working anyway right?

I didn’t do lots of editing but there are a few fun clips in each – one is from our vacation in Lost Pines and the other from the day after the birthday party.  I’ll get to the birthday party itself (and the not eating of the cake) hopefully this weekend.

The “Uh oh” statement should be early in the birthday party one – but you might have to turn up the volume.

Enjoy!

Updated: For some reason the birthday one has 30 seconds of extra blackness at the end – so once it goes to black – its over. I’ll fix that later. Also, you’ll definitely need higher volume for the uh oh, its quiet. The end of the Lost Pines one you’ll want to turn it up as well to hear the raspberries…

Mobile Pics

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

So my phone is not known for having a good camera (actually its mostly known for taking pics of the floor or darkness since I don’t know the camera button has gotten pressed – bad location Samsung!) – but I randomly take pics of Amelia as I want to change the screen saver and wallpaper.  I finally got around to sending myself these photos and thought I’d post them – most are kind of fuzzy but they are still cute.  And then there is the one random one of Shawn Mullins in concert – cause I thought the photo would be close enough? Who knows. Enjoy.

Oh, and the one of her in her booster?  She’s decided its fun to put herself into it – I think it means she is asking for more food.  She even tries to put the tray on.

Introducing: Amelia’s Thursday Thoughts On Aug. 14th

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Hi!  Its me, Amelia.  I thought that maybe every Thursday I’d start doing a Thursday Thoughts post.  Because, well, I like to write as much as I like to talk – although I am much better at making words when I type.

I think my mom told you how I started the big girl room at school.  You know, after Ms. Hale decided to stay home with her boys (I love Ms. Hale!) and Ms. Lee went to be a nanny (hi Ms.  Lee! She called me Bedelia, its too funny), and then mom & dad took me to Texas and I was with them all the time every day… I was having a hard time at school.  However, my good friends Graham and Meredith are there, and now I’m even in a room with my friend Ellery too.  And Kiera and Caitlyn and Brady… and many more.  So I’ve decided that after a couple days – hey, I like this new room, and I no longer cry when mommy leaves me.  I think she appreciates that.  She still kisses me goodbye and I know we miss each other – but now I enjoy digging into whatever toy is around.   The new room is so cool – we drink out of real sippies – they don’t even have a spill guard.  We eat at tables and sleep on cots.  I love that we all nap at the same time, now I can really snuggle up on my cot with my bottom in the air like I like, and no one will interupt my nap.   Now I sleep at least 1 1/2 hours every day and I’m much more pleasant at night for my parents.

This past weekend, we started a new Sunday tradition to go along with my new one nap a day schedule.  We went to church and I really enjoyed the other kids there, as well as the music – and then we went to brunch.  The breakfast potatoes were so yummy!  We also went shopping and then came home for my nap.  In the afternoon we went to the pool – I love the pool!  I splash and splash and splash until I can’t splash anymore.  Hopefully we’ll have more Sundays like this – going out and about and hanging out at home as a family.  Its fun being with mom & dad.  I know this fall we are signed up for a music pups class on Sunday mornings – that will be fun too, and I know all my friends are signed up with me.

Did mom tell you I have a couple new favorite books right now?  I really enjoy ‘That’s not my Puppy’ (I brought it to daycare yesterday for show and tell) and I also like my new Peek-a-zoo book too.  It has lots of fun textures and mirrors.

I guess I should go back to playing and learning now – every day is an adventure, right now we are working on my learning to walk as well as using a spoon.  Hopefully mom will post the videos from vacation soon – I want to see all the fun we had.

Love,

Amelia

Big Girl Room!

Monday, August 11th, 2008

Amelia got to move up to the toddler room today at daycare.  She is in a transition period, so hopefully she is walking a few steps soon, but she does really well with it so far.  Its amazing to think that they go from their own nap schedule in cribs and brought in bottles to scheduled naps on cots and school-provided food and sippies.  They even sit at little tables to eat – how cute is that.  I’m very thankful she moved with her friends Meredith and Graham, I love when I see her recognize her friends.  Its been hard the last couple of weeks because ever since one of her main infant teachers left, she’s had separation anxiety when I drop her off.  I had felt lucky that until now she loved going to school but now each day she just cries so hard when I leave her – its heart breaking.  I try just to leave fast and I know she gets over it, she gets happy and friendly on her report every day.  Doesn’t make it easier though.

I’m so behind on pictures and video – sorry!  Hopefully I’ll catch up soon, because I want to share how much she enjoyed the lazy river on vacation, her throwing something and saying ‘uh oh’  and my niece saying ‘I don’t know about you but she is the cutest thing ever’ with all of my blog readers.

Probably our favorite fun thing Amelia does right now is answer our questions – no matter what we ask, as long as we clearly add the right tone, she’ll answer.  Now, we don’t know what her answer is, but the fact that she answers and has different things she says – so adorable.

Right now we are also in a phase of Amelia forgetting things she knows – I think she is focusing on learning the next thing (which we feel is walking) and so she no longer waves and says hi – she still claps and says yeah and she’ll still say all done (but no sign anymore).  Just funny.  She also hasn’t said uh oh much anymore.  Everything goes in phases with her though so I’m sure we’ll be treated to another waving phase soon.  I like that phase so hopefully its just around the corner.

Mondays are always the hardest day for me – especially when its a full work week. I hope all of you have good weeks, and may the weekend come fast.

A Bug and A Bee

Saturday, August 9th, 2008

Amelia has always been my little ladybug (or Amelia-bug), and her cousin Lena is a young yellow jacket in training… so these outfits seemed appropriate! (Thanks Aunt Jane)  This is from the morning before Amelia’s birthday party – we found it hard to get the two girls together posing, as usual.

Back from the Heat…

and its hot here too. Oh well, the vacation was very nice and I’ll try to get some pictures and videos up over the weekend.  Amelia loves being with her cousins and was a big fan of the lazy river as well.
