Here we go… number 100!

Monday, July 14th, 2008

I appreciate all the responses, I do, but I’m going to have to be selective since it might take me until October to actually come up with 100 places in Atlanta or 100 random facts about me.

So Becky’s response gets to be the subject of post 100. And its not 100 items – instead its the best and worst……of parenting, marriage, working, vacations, etc…

The Best

Of Parenting… hearing your baby laugh, having her snuggle against your chest, slobbery kisses, hearing ‘mama’ with recognition for the first time, seeing her hit milestones, trying to figure out what she’s trying to tell us, seeing your husband be a great dad, looking back through the pictures capturing her first year, seeing her love other children

Of Marriage… having your best friend as your husband, snuggling together in the mornings, having meaningful conversations on long car rides, having a child together, and the little things like having someone make coffee in the morning without asking or him letting you watch a movie like ‘Enchanted’ without too much complaint

Of Working… having an impact and seeing hard work pay off, providing a comfortable lifestyle for your family

Of Vacations… not having to think about work, enjoying relaxation, seeing your child experience new things and playing with family, beach with a cold adult beverage (particularly if its delivered to you!), a hike in the mountains

The Worst

Of Parenting… temper tantrums, explosive diapers, throwing up in the car seat halfway through a road trip, teething, interrupted sleep, illnesses

Of Marriage… when they don’t get the point you are trying to make, when they weigh less than you do

Of Working… husband traveling, limited time to spend with Amelia, questioning at what point money doesn’t matter

Of Vacations… getting some random illness, flight delays and issues, traveling with a child who wants to be mobile, connecting flights, the amount of luggage an infant requires, rain the whole time

I am so happy and so lucky to have my wonderful husband and my adorable daughter. I can not imagine my life if it had gone down another path – I certainly would not have chosen a different path. They are the loves of my life and what truly give it meaning. Family is the most important thing to me, and I am blessed. (And thanks to my family and Chris’ family for helping to shape our lives into what they are today)

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog about a daughter growing from an infant to a toddler. Its been a transition – originally this was Amelia’s reviews of food, then it was her perspective on growing up and now its mostly my journal of what goes on in our lives. I hope you enjoy it, and that I’ve given you laughs and memories. I plan to continue documenting our lives, though I’m sure it’ll continue to evolve, and I’d love for all of you to continue the journey with us.  Now that I’ve hit 100, I might have to go back and add a few historical posts for the months I wasn’t yet keeping track of Amelia and her mischief.

Love,

Baby Momma

Sentimental Musings on a Sunday Morning…

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

I can’t believe she’ll be one in two weeks.  That’s crazy.  We went to the 1st birthday party yesterday for her friends the twins Carter & Davis.  They were due the same week as her, but they all decided to come early.   It doesn’t seem like that long ago that I was supposed to go meet Kelly (their mom is Kelly too) for breakfast but instead got a text message saying ‘at hospital’.  I was 35 weeks pregnant and counting down the days it felt like.

I love seeing Amelia grow up and hit new milestones, but I also can’t believe she isn’t my little baby anymore.  She’s really becoming a toddler more and more every day – and there is no doubt she is a dominant personality which should make the toddler years interesting.

This round of teething has supplied two new teeth at least and we think the next two are popping through too – though its hard to tell.

Spending time with her cousins over the 4th got her more interseted in walking and she cruises really well now.  She just won’t let go to walk.  She tries standing but not the easy way of letting go, she tries to stand up – haha.

I don’t want to muse too much about what will be in her one year letter…. but I felt like writing.  I know those of you who follow our progress have gone through this already, what were your feelings around the 1st birthday?  Those of you hitting it next month with me, how are you doing?

I’ll try to update this later today with some photos I hope to take. :)   The toddler may have her own opinion on that.

Enjoy!  My favorites are Amelia with Madeline, holding on to her shirt with a big smile, and Madeline serious by the water.

Amelia is baby 45 – please vote for her!! And tell all your friends!

Of course, there are multiple rounds – hopefully she’ll make it to the final and you all don’t get annoyed with me – haha.

Proud Mama

PS How can you not vote for this cutie-pie… she wasn’t being very cooperative when I wanted her to show off her new tutu.

A Happy 4th of July

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

We hope everyone had a safe and fun July 4th holiday. Amelia highly enjoyed being in the mountains with her cousin – there was grass and toys and waterfalls and flowers to play with. She especially loves her 6 year old cousin Madeline and I think she is trying to emulate her – she really tried to speak a few words (we heard dog, yeah, all done – not quite clearly but…) and was practicing standing on her own as well. I have a feeling we’ll see walking by the end of the month. Here are a bunch of pictures – we were having fun trying to capture the moment.

Cousins, Take 2

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

We wanted to get photos of the family while together – it was potentially a surprise for my parents but my brother didn’t realize that (woops!) – so since its no longer a surprise I can share the link on my blog.  We had a hard-core teething 11 month old and a tired, off schedule 2 year old…. but there are a couple good ones here and I can’t wait to see the rest.

Enjoy!

Cousins from Houston

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

Amelia’s cousins Madeline and Mason came to Atlanta for the week of July 4th – we went to the aquarium and hung out at our pool. We’ll soon join them in the mountains for a few nights as well. Here are just a couple quick pictures to enjoy. Amelia loves her big cousin Madeline (she’s 6 years old). They held hands throughout most of the aquarium and splashed one another in the pool.

Nearing 100 and need your input!

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

100 posts that is.  Can you believe it?  I wish I had started this closer to Amelia’s birth instead of near her 5th month, but I can’t go back now.  I might do a couple of backdated posts just for printing purposes (I plan on printing Amelia’s 1st year), but more importantly, I need to decide what to do for the 100th post?!?

Here’s the plan – write comments about a topic you’d like me to blog about, and I’ll try to do so in the 100th post.  Anything goes as long as its pg-rated.  So comment away and help me figure out my subject.
