I’m An Amelia-Bug

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

My Aunt Ann gave me the cutest purple lady bug outfit for Christmas – it asks if I’m a lady bug or a girl bug – but I say that’s silly because I’m an Amelia-bug!

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I am having a babysitter tonight so mom & dad can celebrate an early Valentine’s.

Playing With Friends

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

So we are lucky in our neighborhood and have many great friends with babies close in age to Amelia. There is baby Meredith, exactly one month older, baby Max, exactly one day younger and baby Chance who is just about a week younger. It has been very exciting to watch them grow together and see how they interact – the first time we were together they just hung out napping and now they are really interested in one another. I think Amelia believes the boys are her possessions – she particularly loved grabbing and holding onto them. These pictures don’t accurately portray the fun we had with all of them together but hopefully you can get the idea.

Duke Wins!

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

Here is a good article from my favorite Duke site about the game. It was well worth staying up late for! More importantly to readers of this blog, Amelia had friends over to play before the game and I’ll be posting some adorable photos later tonight or tomorrow. She loves other babies – its too cute. She wants to grab on and hold – she staked ownership on both boy babies!

Thankfully its almost the weekend and Amelia’s dad will be back in town tonight. Hope everyone is surviving the week,

Kelly

Your First Duke vs UNC game

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

Dear Amelia,

Tonight is your first Duke vs. UNC basketball game.  While I wish I could have you watch it, you’ll probably be asleep since it starts at 9pm.  And you do get to be cranky if you don’t get your sleep.  However, if you hear me screaming at the TV, and I wake you up while you are dreaming away up in your crib – I apologize now.  I’m sure you’ll make me pay for it, so it’ll all work out.  Over the next few years you will wonder what this crazy thing is that causes your mom to be obsessed, but one day you will understand.  You have Duke blue blood running in your veins (along side the Georgia red which is more useful during the football season).

Love,

Your Duke Lovin’ Momma

Oatmeal and Carrots

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

Mom has started to feed me oatmeal at night instead of rice cereal, and last night she introduced another fun yummy veggie – carrots! I loved them. I seem to love anything that is food really. I ate a whole 3 Tbsp of oatmeal and half a jar of carrots – I’m really getting the hang of this thing. She says she’ll be posting pictures tonight if I’m a good girl and gives her some free time. This weekend she says she might even let me have a sippy cup and soon I’ll get to have a lunch of fruits or veggies too.

Six Month Appointment

Friday, February 1st, 2008

Amelia got to see Dr. Hines on Thursday for a good report and for some not fun shots, however, she did great with them and was her normal playful self for the most part.  She tried to eat everything in site at the doctors like the doctor’s arm, her own foot, the paper on the table… pretty funny.  Obviously she is eating enough though, here are her stats:

Weight: 16 lbs 15 oz, 65th percentile

Height: 25 1/4 in, 35th percentile

We don’t go back until 9 months assuming all goes well.
