Amelia Takes On the World

Next up for foods turned out to be sweet peas.  My mom wasn’t sure if I’d go for them as they aren’t nearly as sweet as the bananas I had come to really like.  But you know what?  I think I like them because they are fun and messy.  I got them everywhere – my bib, my highchair and all over my mouth.  The little bit that stayed in my mouth was actually not bad – I ate more than mom thought I would for sure.  Partway through I decided to suck the peas off my fingers and I started reaching for the spoon – I think I might be able to feed myself.  It doesn’t look so hard.  Two more nights of peas at least and then I don’t know what my mom will think of next. I hope everyone is having a good week and I can’t wait for the weekend – lots of playtime with mom & dad.

Well third night is a charm – my mom gave me bananas again and I actually liked them.  I could get used to this eating solid foods thing.  Bananas again tonight and then I think she mentioned cereal for tomorrow.  I’m hoping for oatmeal!

The weekend was spent hanging out with my cousin Lena on Saturday and otherwise just enjoying the great weather here in Atlanta. After my first really cold week (it was 20 last week), it got up to 70 yesterday. Dad grilled out on the big green thing and we all enjoyed the porch. Here are a couple of pictures – mom was trying to be artistic on one of them and the other was them trying to get Lena and myself to cooperate. Haha.

Still trying these slimy bananas thing. I seemed to like them a little better by the end last night – maybe tonight will be even better.

Last night, mom and dad thought it’d be fun to try and give me some smushed up bananas. I’m not sure I liked them though – they were so weird in texture. Once dad got them in my mouth I’d eat them but man, they were all slimy. I think they are going to try them again tonight – maybe they’ll try to make them smoother using a food mill.

I also got to visit the doctor yesterday and found out I’m 16 lbs and just under 25 inches long – I have a big cute belly! I do love to eat. (For reference that puts me in the below 50th percentile in height, yet near 75th in weight. )
