Sweet Potatoes are oh so sweet….

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

I had sweet potatoes for the first time earlier this week and oh they are so yummy! My favorite food by far – I just kept looking for more. It was also my messiest eating experience so far but I’m actually getting better at opening my mouth – I just still push a lot of the food back out.

Can’t wait to try oatmeal and carrots sometime in the coming week.

Teeth!

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

My first tooth popped through on Thursday – my six month birthday…. its my bottom left one – the bottom right isn’t far behind and should be out any minute now. I’ve been drooling like crazy and its no wonder. I like to suck my thumb and play with my tooth – its sharper than I thought.

Six Months Old Today

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Dearest Amelia-bug,

You are six months old today.  It is crazy how time flies.  You were so tiny just the other day and now you are 17 pounds and into your 6 – 9 months clothes.  You try to sit up yourself, though you can only get a few inches off the ground;  you can stay sitting for awhile – especially if a toy has your interest in front of you;   you can hold your bottle while you eat, though you don’t always want to.  We’ve seen you roll both ways and figure out that you can reach toys by using one hand to bring the arch closer so you can grab the toy with the other.  You like to interact with your cousin, even if that means trying to eat each other’s head – its adorable!  I can’t wait to see you two be the best of friends though I know we are in for a world of trouble when that happens.  And lately, you want to touch and feel and grab everything around you – especially if its shiny like your dad’s watch or your mom’s necklace.  Probably the most exciting change for our sake is that you love sleep and now sleep through the night almost every night.  I love to peak in and watch you sleep as you have managed to snuggle yourself into the corner of your crib on your belly with your bottom sticking into the air.   When you get a good night sleep you wake up all smiles and are so happy to greet the day.

We love you so much and can’t believe how much you’ve grown.   Just remember you’ll always be our tiny Amelia-bug.

Love,
Mom

Mmm Socks Are Tasty

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

I like to put everything in my mouth.  Especially my feet or my socks.  Doesn’t everyone?

We’re Cousins…

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

My cousin Lena came over with her parents to celebrate my daddy’s birthday – we had lots of fun rolling on the ground together and taking cute valentine themed photos. I can’t wait til we can run around and really get into trouble! To make it even better – it snowed again. This time mommy dressed me up and took me out – I didn’t like having to wear my coat and hat so I don’t think I like the snow very much. But it was really pretty.

First Apples

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

I had my first apples over the weekend – I think I like them… I’ve definitely come to look forward to my solids at night – after I finish my bottle I start looking around for what’s to come.  I only eat about half a bottle at a time but I’m working up to more.  My nonni fed it to me the first time – she’s really good at getting me to eat off a spoon – grandma’s special touch I guess!

What’s That White Stuff

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

My mom introduced me to a new concept – snow. She said it doesn’t happen much in Atlanta, so we took the time to watch it for awhile out the back doors. She also thought it would be fun to take a picture of daddy’s new toy – the big green egg – covered in snow. I was fascinated for awhile but then I was ready to eat. I seem to be figuring that out better – we went back to trying bananas and I ate half a jar which is a record for me. I even seemed to open my mouth for the spoon a few times – mostly I just tried to lick the bananas off the spoon though.

Hope everyone is safe and warm inside! Amelia

Rice Cereal Isn’t Fun

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

Rice cereal is boring.  Why does my mom make me try and eat this stuff?  Well its food – and I like food so maybe I’ll eat it.  I want to hold the spoon – GIVE ME THE SPOON.  Okay fine, now I have my own spoon.  I’ll try to eat that – wait but it has no food – AND I WANT FOOD.  Okay yeah, dad is feeding me again. Whew.  Can we go back to the bananas now?

Playing

Monday, January 14th, 2008

Mom & Dad took a few pictures of me playing over the weekend – enjoy! And yes, that’s me in the sink in our half bath. I’m fascinated by it – I can be really upset and taking me into the bathroom to look at the sink and mirror makes me smile immediately. Its fun stuff.
