Amelia Takes On the World

Last night, Meredith came over for a playdate while her parents enjoyed some Bon Jovi live… Amelia loves her friend Meredith - lots of giggling and trying to take Meredith’s bunny and paci ensued.  Meredith was sleepy though, so we let her go to sleep.  Also before the playdate, I took some pics of how Amelia eats puffs these days - just shovels them in - they stick everywhere once the least bit soggy.  There is also one cute picture of how Amelia feel asleep for her nap - feet on top of the bumper.  Not sure that is the intent.

Amelia has started crawling on her knees a bit too - we’ll try to get some video of last nights playdate and crawling up soon.

In honor of it being springtime, I thought I’d repost pictures of Miss Amelia as she plays with her Nonni and her first pinwheel and as she takes her first swing on a swing set- to me these are very much spring-time images.

I decided to do a photo shoot this Sunday morning cause well I could -  Chris is out hitting golf balls (he’s crazy, its 45 degrees outside), so I thought it’d be fun to play dress up with Amelia.  My best friend from high school, Mona, gave Amelia this beautiful dress and her mom gave us the adorable shoes with it - its so fun and girly!  We also did some diaper cover shots cause well - its so fun to see her belly and thighs.  Enjoy!

We took a couple of clips of Amelia last night with our new camcorder, which finally arrived (don’t ask us our opinion of UPS right now…) - and we are playing and learning with the video editor that came with it.  So here are two clips, sliced together, for your enjoyment.

The first clip is of Amelia doing her Bs again and how she lets us help her - the 2nd is how I try and get her to say ma (she loves to say ba, da, wa, and particularly a loud Aaaaahhhh) - and how she just laughs at me.

My friend Alex came over to play on Sunday.  He wanted to play swords with these foam pieces, but I was a little small for that - the ball was better.

Mommy calls these my Speed Racer pjs because they are striped and a little tight fitting for my chunky thighs.

Mommy had me try on a blue jean hat - we’ll be going on more walks in the sun so I need to be shaded.

And since its warm enough for shorts, I got to wear a new pink Duke outfit for our walk today.  It has a matching baseball hat too, but I kept taking it off so mom gave up.  I even showed my two front teeth in my smile.  Go Blue Devils!

Recently, Amelia thought it was the best thing to ’strum’ her lips while making a B sound.  It was so funny I had to capture it on video to share with all of you.  As with most things, she has mostly moved on to newer and greater things after only a couple days, but luckily I managed to get this in time.

We had a bonnet parade at school - it was so much fun! I got to ride in a crib with my best bud Meredith - I even put my arm around her. Don’t you love my crown?? I am a princess so its appropriate (though I did have trouble keeping it on…).

Amelia

Well Duke is unfortunately out of the March Madness craziness, as is UGA - but it was fun while it lasted and we will always support our teams.  Its been a hectic couple of weeks with Lasik for me (the baby momma), an Easter trip to Jacksonville for Amelia’s first Easter, Amelia’s first St. Patty’s and Bonnet parade at school, and the building of a new computer as home (our old one was about to die at any minute and it would’ve been so painful if we lost all of our Amelia photos!).

Now that we are through all of this - I’ll get to editing photos so I can post about the many different events of the last week and a half.   Today Amelia is 8 months old - time does fly.  So never fear Amelia fans, there should be multiple posts with pictures this week.

Well, if yesterday morning you had told me that UGA would win 2 games in one day, at an empty stadium, after downtown Atlanta was hit by a tornado, to make the SEC Championship game today - I don’t think I would’ve believed you…. and while we are very happy for the Dawgs, unfortunately the Blue Devils did not win against a very good Clemson team, who couldn’t miss a free throw towards the end of the game.  You know you aren’t going to win, when their senior who is 40% from the line, with a broken wrist, starts making every free throw.  Just not destined to be for a re-match with UNC, at least not during the ACC tourney.  There is always the NCAA!  Brackets get announced tonight, should be fun.

Today I’ll be playing my first tennis match since I was six months pregnant with Amelia - should be entertaining to say the least.  At least its not raining anymore!

First off, we have to thank Uncle Bob & Aunt Judy for the wonderful 5 in 1 baby gym - Amelia loves it and its giving her a great place to practice standing as well.

Secondly, its ACC Tournament Time - Duke beat GT last night, and we’re looking at Clemson for a matchup today.  If all goes as expected, we’ll be going for a re-match with UNC tomorrow - right now we’ve split the last two games, so its a big one for bragging rights.

Lastly, for those of you that saw a tornado hit Atlanta last night - we are all fine thankfully.  We didn’t even know about it until we were watching the news this morning.   Its crazy to think about - I used to have an exterior window office in CNN Center which is now missing quite a few windows and just last Friday we were at a Thrashers game in the arena right there.  So far everyone I know that was in the area has reported being fine, although with a few stories to tell.  Hopefully the next wave of storms headed our way won’t do any additional damage and just bring the rain we so badly need.
