19 Months Old

Dear Amelia,

Today you are 19 months old.  It seems like just yesterday I was writing your 18 month post – time really is flying by these days.

You were 26 lbs 15 oz at the doctor, and 31 1/2 inches long.  So you are consistently still around 75th percentile on weight (obviously still a good eater), but you did jump up a bit in height from 25th to 35th.  We thought so, because you definitely seem to be taller these days.

You are doing really well and hitting all your milestones.  The doctor was impressed when you said ‘doctor’ for her.  You do like to show off, particularly if you can get people laughing. I think you did your ‘brrr, cold’ shiver for the grandparents five or six times since they kept laughing for you (it is really cute).

The 13th tooth is slowly but surely coming in – I keep saying this is the day the canine will break through but somehow it hasn’t yet.  I think 13 and 14 will be close together, hopefully with the next two as well.  We’d love a big break from teething for awhile as I’m sure you would too.

You got to go to the circus for the first time, and you were enthralled, dancing to the music while sitting in daddy’s lap.  The pre-show was a bit overwhelming, you weren’t sure of those clowns up close.  But you definitely enjoyed the show itself, so next year we will definitely go again.

You also got to see the ocean for the 1st time – its a shame it was cold because you loved laughing at the waves coming in and out.  You were even brave and let daddy walk you in but it was cold and that didn’t last long.  Next time we go, hopefully it’ll be nice and warm for you to play.

You still love to dance.  You love to hear and see airplanes and trains.  You really love the moon and the stars.   Every night for the last week we had to read ‘Good Night Moon’.  Its the first time you have shown such a preference for one book before bed.

Probably my favorite thing is how loving you are – I’ve mentioned it before, but this month you have bloomed even more, wanting to hug everyone and you give us the sweetest cuddles and tell us ‘I L’ You’ – which just melts my heart everytime.  Its so rewarding to hear that without us having to say it first.

At school they tell us how good you are with the baby dolls which is a good thing since you’ll have a real baby around soon – in about 6 months you’ll be a big sister and you can’t put that baby back into the toy chest.

You still love your pacis, but you understand they are for the bedroom only.  Just tonight we had started going down the stairs and I had forgotten to make you leave it, but two stairs down you pointed back up and to the paci in your mouth and I asked if you wanted to put it in your crib – and you ran right to the crib and put it back.  Such a big girl!  Hopefully that means you’ll be ready for the transition to no pacis soon.  Not sure when we’ll be brave enough to go cold turkey but I hear that’s really the only way.  I apologize now!

There are so many fun and cute stories I could write about – however, I’ve decided just to end the post with a video of some cute moments from the month.  Of Dancing, Of Learning… Its about 2 minutes long, but I hope it shows a glimpse into our wonderful last month.

Love,

Baby Momma
