Ready Yet?
So I am almost 34 weeks pregnant… if this was baby A, she’d be born in just over 3 weeks. We keep getting asked if we are ready. Ready? Um… no? Haha. I can’t wait to hold this baby girl in my arms, but yet I can wait. Maybe its the fact that the nursery isn’t quite ready, or maybe its the fact that now toddler A seems to be teething her 2 year molars and isn’t letting us sleep enough. But I want this new baby to wait until her scheduled day of 8/28 to give us the full month we have left as our current family of three.
I will be so thrilled when she graces us with her presence (maybe we’ll have a name for her by then), but I can wait until the entrance and when she is ready. I say this now, after a gorgeous not too hot weekend in Atlanta – I’m sure in August I might say differently. Right now though I want to enjoy these last 4 – 6 weeks and give A plenty of time & attention. I want to go on a date with my husband. I want to celebrate A’s 2nd birthday with lots of attention & hoopla for her. I want to take her to the zoo once more before the end of summer at least (she loves animals of all varieties). I want to print the blog of the toddler into a book before fully transitioning to DyarGirls. I want the house to be clean & organized (oh has nesting hit me big time these days). I want to get some meals into the freezer for this fall. So I have a long list of wants for the next few weeks and I’m not quite ready yet.
I do find as the date approaches I try to remember back two years ago – its all a blur. I remember being in the hospital trying desperately to get sleep, trying to learn how to feed and take care of my daughter (loved the lactation nurses but not the hospital grade pump – that thing was scary), having to stand up for that first time after having the c-section, having food service come in at all the wrong times (privacy does not exist when you have given birth). But the memories all have this fuzzy haze around them. We are doing the hospital tour tonight since we have chosen to switch doctors and the new doctor is at a new hospital (for us). I probably will have even more flash backs after that.
So are we ready? Are you ever really ready? We are excited to welcome the 4th member of our family, but we do hope she bakes until at least mid-August so we can get our to-do list a bit shorter. Regardless, I’m sure her arrival will be perfect and just fitting for her – whenever it may be.
Another month or so and we’ll find out if we are adding a third Leo to the family or a Virgo… any guesses? (Info to aid your guess: Due Date 9/2, Scheduled C 8/28, Girl)
