Amelia – with her paci…

And Katherine. Also loves her paci.
We broke out the water table for the first time this season – and our front porch works great – especially on hot mornings since the sun hits our back deck. Katherine thought it was great fun!

But as I took a couple pictures this weekend – Katherine was wearing some hand-me-downs from Amelia so I went in search of the photos.
Um, Katherine is 8 months old. Amelia was 15 months old when she wore it – hahaha.

So I had to pull out a 9 month old photo of Amelia just to see.

And a more comparable one of Katherine…

Definitely sisters!
Dearest Katherine,
Wow – 8 months old. I feel like I need to start planning for you to be a one year old. This is crazy how fast time is flying and you appear to be racing head first into being a toddler whether I want you to or not.
In just the past couple of weeks you’ve started getting into the crawl position – you don’t really move forward, mostly backwards, but you seem to be able to get what you want through some combination of rolling, sliding, reaching, sitting back up… yes you can sit back up. You can get into sitting by yourself. I’ve even seen you maneuver a toy under your belly so that when you sat up, you would have it right there in front of you – I was pretty impressed I must say. And this week has begun the pulling up – I think you might go from crawling to steps in crazy time but we’ll see. It just seems like you want to play with your big sis so you are doing what you can to get there.
You are doing a great job with eating too – we finally seem to have weaned the night time bottle – you do 5 bottles (probably 24 – 30 oz in a day) and you eat solids. You like to eat. (You are wearing an 18 month onsie today if that is any indication.) You have taken to finger foods like they are the best gift you have ever been given. You’ve enjoyed peas, diced carrots, sweet potato cubes, rice, dried apple pieces, cheerios and puffs of course. You also still eat your purees though I can imagine that will start to wean as you get more interested in finger foods. If there is a finger food on your plate or in your vision, its all you want.
You are so sweet and happy, you love people. You really don’t want to be left alone very long – though you will independently play surrounded by toys in our new rec room. And sleep – after dealing with the cold that turned into a bad cough that turned into a sinus infection – we finally got you sleeping well – for three nights. Now you are teething. Sigh. Its not bad though, we are close to good sleep more regularly. We will get there. And while its against my ‘rules’, we’ve let you come to our bed when you wake up early and you are a little love bug snuggler. Hard to say no to that.
You have turned into a reluctant laugh-er into a great laugh-er. Especially if being thrown in the air or raspberries are involved. Its a sound that could make anyone smile, I love it. You also babble lots of syllables, though no ma yet (you do occasionally say mmmm when you are eating, I think because we do to tell you its yummy.)
You are so fun these days – you love to play with balls and your sister. And anything you can shake to make noise. You love to be outside just hanging out with the family. I envision a great summer ahead of us – playing together.
I love you baby girl,
Momma

P.S. Mommy got a new photo editing software so two of these three photos have special edits – I’m guessing this will be a theme for the next few months. ; ) Though its hard to improve upon such cuteness.
The Easter bunny visited our house and left baskets full of goodies for the girls. They definitely had fun exploring what he brought.

What this doesn’t show is Katherine was much more interested in Amelia’s basket – especially the peeps – she kept diving for them. She is a curious thing and she goes after what she wants.

Then Amelia & I headed out to play at the neighborhood playground – for the first few minutes I took photos – and I love some of the ones I got – just showing her in her natural fun state. But then I put the camera down and we had a great time playing – we’d slide together, run around together… she told me I was her friend.

A different picture of Katherine posing in the bunny outfit for mommy – that photo shoot actually happened mid-day Sunday.

And then the girls played together – it was so adorable. Katherine lights up when Amelia gives her attention – and I didn’t stage this at all, Amelia just got on the floor and played with her on her own. I just happened to have the camera to capture the moment.

And how sweet is this photo – two sisters.
Have a great week!
So yesterday I kind of thought it was St. Patrick’s day when I got the girls dressed – I realized a bit later it wasn’t but I wasn’t going to change them both out of their outfits – so they are just in different green outfits today. However I used it to take some cute photos – just with our point & shoot, and unedited at this point. Still you can see how they love each other – its adorable.

Katherine was playing (aka trying to eat) her wipes…

Amelia was enjoying her purple Popsicle for going poopy in the potty.

Just a pic of Katherine chilling in the highchair.

Peek-a-boo!

This was during the move when Lena & Amelia decided to use the empty train boxes as their ‘shelter’.
I hope everyone has a great St. Patrick’s Day!
We had one of those weekends where… let’s just say its a good thing the girls are cute. We moved houses over the weekend – and it will be wonderful once we are settled, but mess with our girls’ routines and all heck breaks loose. So um… yeah. This post it to remind me my kids are cute and I will keep them. I will say that a few times and breathe deep. And maybe take a nap.

Bath time = chew on turtle time. Its what she does the whole bath.

These pictures are dark – I haven’t edited them yet, I know I can make them better. But you get the idea. Amelia & Katherine were playing together and everything Amelia does – if she pays attention to Katherine – is magic to Katherine.

And then – here is just a funny face to leave you with. She makes fun expressions.

Coming soon (maybe) – pictures of Amelia and her cousin Lena (the movers thought they were twins) inventing new places to play while confined to one room during the move. It was pretty cute.
Gotta love a holiday weekend with not one but two special days! I went a bit camera happy this weekend, so I won’t post all of them here – but here are a few fun pictures from our weekend. We enjoyed time with Chris’ family (Amelia’s cousin Lena is also her best friend), had a wonderful Valentine’s at home and visited with friends at a cookie decorating party. Today has been spent cleaning & organizing the house so not really a holiday but it works.

You might notice – Katherine is sitting pretty well just in time to be 6 months next weekend. You just don’t know when she’ll choose to dive and hit the floor which is a slight issue on wood floors. She doesn’t like it very much. (And its not always backwards – sometimes the side just to liven it up.) Also? All this drool and teething – still no teeth. Sigh.
If you want to see all the photos I took this weekend – well the selection I edited – I uploaded about 40 or so – check out: http://dyaranddyar.shutterfly.com/1104
Have a good week!
This will be a collection of stories from the past couple of weeks with photos – enjoy!

So you might have heard we had some snow here in Atlanta? And everyone went crazy! I mean schools closed, etc. Granted there are only 4 snow plows in the city and it is a problem when roads ice because we aren’t prepared for it and it was cold enough before hand the snow stuck around – so rare for us. I hyped up the snow with Amelia – we were going to build a snowman on the deck – she was so excited. We got her dressed, I went out first to our deck… and she wanted me to pick her up. I said no, and she went back inside as I took pictures. (Yes they are in order, its her shutting me out) That was the end of our snow experience. She decided she wanted nothing to do with it. However, during prayers at night she does say she is thankful for the snow.

Instead mommy decided to play around with taking photos – Katherine was much more cooperative than Amelia – all except this one of Amelia is her being silly and moving so much, they are all a blur.

Amelia’s favorite gift from Christmas has to be the art easel – she LOVES to paint – she’d probably paint all day if we let her. She just forgets she has paint brushes in her hand and tends to walk around…. we are trying to teach her not to do that. Luckily toddler paint cleans up.

Amelia and I went on a date with Miss Heather and Graham to the Children’s Museum here in Atlanta. It was way too crowded and not enough things to ‘share’ and kind of frustrating – but Amelia did have a good time and one of her favorites was fishing in the pond (followed 2nd by tap dancing in tap shoes).

Katherine is getting her top two teeth – and I think this picture is a good example of her trying to chew on everything.

Can’t remember for sure but I think this was on the way home from the aquarium with my brother’s family when Amelia was protesting that she was not going to nap, she does not sleep in the car…. snore….

The Georgia Aquarium is just amazing – we got annual passes this year. It also is great fun to take pictures there. I didn’t even have the good camera but I still had some fun. We went with my brother’s family and really enjoyed the visit.

Amelia showing off her I love being a big sister shirt and Katherine modeling her Little Sister shirt…

Last but certainly not least – Katherine was christened the first weekend of this year. I have so many pictures capturing the event that I haven’t gone through yet – it was a fantastic weekend. We really couldn’t have asked for it to turn out any better – we had the church to ourselves (there can be up to 4 babies, but we were the only one), we had a wonderful intimate gathering afterwards at the yummy Magianno’s… and we got to spend a lot of time with our family. Katherine was just her normal happy self throughout the whole event (which was a relief since Amelia screamed through hers).
And the dress – the Christening gown was made from my wedding dress … you can’t tell from this picture but I had buttons going down the back – one of my favorite features. On Amelia the dress was huge (we had it made for a 6 month old size baby, ended up Christening her at 3 months, and she was a tiny 3 month old). On Katherine – it was like it was made just for her – she looked so adorable. Hopefully it will become an heirloom dress they pass on to their kids as well. It does have special meaning and I definitely want to keep it in the family.

Hope everyone is having a good week, and enjoy the three day holiday weekend!
When taking pictures of baby K in the bumbo the other day, I had such a sense of deja vu… I had to go back and find the pics of A.
What do you think?
Here is K at 12 weeks old:
And here is A at like 16 – 18 weeks old:
Yeah I think our genes run strong – they are looking more alike every day! My beautiful baby girls.
I am also making a promise – this is the last post comparing the girls! They are each unique and wonderful and their own independent selves so they shouldn’t be compared all the time. This Deja Vu is my last.
