We hosted a family Easter brunch with egg hunt on Saturday. You have to understand, we haven’t hosted a family gathering in a long time – we had a townhome and we didn’t even have our dining room set out – it sat in storage. Now that we are in a house, we finally took over the hosting duties from Ann & Benji – and it was fun! It’ll be even better when the house is a bit further along in getting organized, etc – but it was still wonderful to have everyone.
I got to break out the china! (Note to self – buy a tablecloth!)

And Amelia decorated cupcakes with her Kaykay. (Amelia doesn’t eat them, yet I make them allergy-friendly anyway – normally with pumpkin but couldn’t find it at the grocery, so these have applesauce instead of egg. I’ll just say I also bought a Publix cake ahem)

And I had to buy this bread from Great Harvest bakery. (Still haven’t had the heart to cut into it, it was just decor – but their cinnamon chip bread? To die for – we can’t keep it in the house more than 2 days)

We did an Easter egg hunt for the two toddlers – 40 eggs for 2 girls! Haha. And the Easter Bunny (aka Grandpa Joe) left them in pretty obvious places.
Here is Amelia on the hunt. This egg had rolled into the bushes but she had no problem going for it!

And here is Lena up in the more natural part of our yard.

I showed Katherine the two eggs I collected for her – I think these looks are curious and then ‘what the heck do I do with these?’

Next we tried for some posed photos – it worked with the toddlers! (I grabbed every bunny stuffed animal we had! Who needs to take pics with live bunnies!)

Then Nonni gave the girls some ears to put on… these looks crack me up.

Okay okay we’ll smile.

And then we tried to put Katherine in there – poor Lena tried to comfort her but she was not having it. (Katherine is carrying on the Dyar tradition of being sick for holidays – at least one of us, every holiday – unfortunately it was her at Christmas too – this time on breathing treatments & steroids making for a grumpy serious baby.)

One more of cutie-pie Amelia. She is looking all grown up!

And then Ann & I jumped in – I swear Amelia is my child – but she is the spitting image of Aunt Ann.

I was determine to take pictures of all the adults – we mostly focus on the kids (for good reason) but everyone was dressed so nice. See what cute couples everyone is!

And then my parents got silly – I love this stream of photos – you have to look at them as an overall ‘story’:

Later in the day I asked my dad to take a picture of Chris & I – and we got one that I really love – so glad to have remembered to take this:

We then went in to have brunch inside. Well first while the food was getting its final touches, the girls opened eggs and decorated themselves with stickers.

And then we had brunch – a little girls’ table and the big fancy table.

After a wonderful Easter meal of lamb, biscuits & gravy, fruit, asparagus, potatoes with sausage and my mom’s famous mac & cheese – we had to go for a walk – so we checked out the neighborhood playground.

Mom my mini-dress is not good for slides! (Note – this wasn’t a mini-dress when I bought it but um, I might have accidentally put it in the dryer.)

And then we walked back home – it was really fun to see Amelia & Lena play chase with one another on the sidewalk and then Aunt Ann got involved too. (Don’t worry – we were very aware of cars)

Finally a little last play time at home – Easter basket bling and her new jump rope. She can’t quite figure it out, but she still has fun with it!

On Sunday – I took a ton more pictures of my girls – which are all unedited on the computer. But I did take the time to edit one of Katherine so I could post one cute Easter photo of her in a good mood. I love this outfit too – the bunnies are adorable!

I hope everyone had a great Easter weekend with family, friends, love and more.
